Verizon wanted to demonstrate the real-world power of its 5G network. To do that, we developed a concept that showcases both current and emerging technologies made possible by this next-gen connectivity. After exploring a few options, we landed on Digital Twins.

So, what is a Digital Twin, you say? It’s a virtual representation of a real-world system or process. It’s an exact digital replica that mirrors its physical counterpart’s characteristics and behaviour. Powered by real-time data and simulations, Digital Twins offer insights and control like never before, especially when fueled by the ultra-low latency and high capacity of Verizon’s 5G network.

With a tight budget, we brought the concept to life by shooting in South Africa, using local talent and crew. To give it global appeal, we paired the visuals with an international voice. We cast Aidan Scott (from Netflix’s One Piece), whose nerdy enthusiasm was exactly what the role called for. We leveraged generative AI, which was still in its infancy, to fill creative gaps and rapidly build immersive worlds in record time.

Aidan played both himself and his digital twin. For scenes where the two needed to interact, we used a cardboard cutout of his face as a stand-in to help with eyelines. A simple, clever trick that worked surprisingly well on set. A huge thanks to Tin Toy, who helped us pull off a smart, resourceful shoot that stayed on budget without compromising the idea.

The campaign performed really well, driving a 21% increase in engagement on LinkedIn.
